Route of transmission
Eating dirty meat, unprocessed eggs, drinking untreated water, exposure to soil contaminated with salmonella, and contact with convalescent patients and asymptomatic carriers are all risk factors for salmonella. In addition, convalescent patients and asymptomatic carriers are also common sources of infection.
Preventive measures
1. Do not drink untreated water (such as ponds, streams, lakes, polluted seawater, etc.), and do not drink unpasteurized milk (i.e. raw milk).
2. Do not eat raw or unheated meat; It's a mistake not to eat raw eggs.
3. Wash hands carefully after use, diaper change and pet contact, especially before preparing food or dining.
4. Raw poultry meat, beef and pork should be regarded as potentially contaminated food. When the situation permits, fresh meat should be placed in a clean plastic bag to avoid the leakage of blood and water to contaminate other food. After handling raw meat, do not lick your fingers, touch other food, or smoke before washing your hands.
5. After touching each food, be sure to wash the cutting board carefully to avoid contaminating other food.
6. Especially when cooking meat in the microwave, the meat should be kept at the same temperature inside and outside (usually over 165 degrees Fahrenheit).
